Live With OTTAWA and Kelly!
Ok…soooo….in case you haven’t heard the amazing news, the hit morning TV show LIVE! with Regis and Kelly have announced that they are searching for “Men of Radio” to co-host with Kelly for a day!
I think we can all agree that this is an incredible opportunity for our local radio boys, and a few of our city’s radio hosts (and one expatriate, but we still claim you as ours, Cubby!) have thrown their hats in the ring to be considered…sooo….let’s help them get nominated!
NB: You don’t have to only nominate one – you can nominate them all – and as often as you want until noon on Friday, Dec 10th. The more the merrier as they say – strength in numbers will help get the producers to notice them. Who knows, maybe all 5 boys would make it on with her – one for each day of the week! Here’s a little taste of them in action:
Having our boys be considered could do wonderful things for our city, too…think about it… when Regis and Kelly visited PEI this past summer, the province climbed almost to the top of the list of most-searched topics on Google in the U.S for four days!! That’s huge!! Hmmmm…if we could get one of our Ottawa radio hosts on the list – Ottawa would be the “Googled One”, and certainly replace Toronto as the “Centre of the Universe” – finally! Not to mention, the boys themselves would sing Ottawa’s praises and put our beautiful city on the map where it belongs as the proud capital of our great country, eh? Oh! Canada!
Being the certified (or…certifiable?) BIGGEST Regis & Kelly fan in the universe, and co-host of “Ottawa’s” Regis & Kelly – Daytime Ottawa, I felt it to be my municipal duty to step-up and help in some way (along with…of course…my ever-supportive, multi-talented, and generous husband/all-night-editor, Chris), so this blog is our “plug” for them, and for our fine city! The nomination form is quite long and asks for a few links and things, but we’ve collected what we can from the guys and provided it all below for you to cut and paste away, and make the nomination process easier!! Remember – these are just guidelines…PLEASE feel free to change, add, edit as you desire to help make the nominees shine, and if you have any suggestions that will help – by all means – leave a comment below with the info! Like we said – strength in numbers!
When you’re ready – here is the link to nominate!

Mauler has 20 years of broadcasting experience and is currently the host of “The Morning HOT Tub with Mauler, Rush, Jenni and Josie” on Ottawa’s #1 Hit Music Station, The New HOT 89-9. In addition to his role on radio, Mauler is frequently caught on TV as he has hosted Rogers TV’s Daytime Ottawa, and was host of Ottawa Living, a weekly entertainment television show on Rogers TV. Also, Mauler is the host of Canada’s biggest countdown – “The Canadian Hit 30 with Mauler and Rush”. The syndicated countdown is heard coast to coast and reaches over 1 million listeners every weekend. He was also recently an instructor at Algonquin College where he taught ‘Announcing 101’ to first year radio broadcasting students.
Mauler has great commitment to his community, spending as much time as he can working for local charities and non-profit organizations such as The Ottawa Food Bank, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Kids’ Help Phone, The Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Easter Seals’ Society and Junior Achievement – to name a few. He has even been buried alive in concrete, trapped underwater, and locked in a coffin, all for 48 straight hours – raising tens of thousands of dollars for Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Trust.
If Mauler is chosen to co-host with Kelly, he will no doubt be the perfect partner for her – he has even taken “Regis Bootcamp Lessons” to get ready for the role! It has been his life-long dream to sit beside Kelly, and would love this opportunity to make his dream come true!
It should also be noted, he loves cheese.
Top Reasons why Cub should fill in for Regis:
- Cub Carson is a fifteen year veteran Radio & TV personality. For close to ten of those years, Cub has been waking up people at 106.9 The BEAR / Virgin radio in Ottawa, Canada and now getting up early at LIVE 105 in Halifax, Canada.
- Cub’s been a fill in co-host on Rogers TV’s Daytime Ottawa for the past three years.
- Cub does a number of celebrity impressions, including a spot on impersonation of Regis himself.
- This past June, Regis once tried to throw an oyster at Cub while at a taping of the Late Show with David Letterman.
- Cub was once almost attacked by a tiger while emceeing a press conference.
- Cub enjoys giving back to the community by being involved with charities such as the SPCA, the Canadian Cancer society as well as local children’s hospitals.
Stu Schwartz is part of “Stuntman and the Shark” on 93.9 Bob fm and is the PA announcer for the Ottawa Senators hockey club. He recently launched the “Stuntman Stu Red Line Merlot” wine in support of the Senators foundation. In 2004 Stu received a United Way community builder award and was the recipient of a Canadian Association of Broadcasters Gold Ribbon award in 2005. A graduate from the radio broadcasting program at Algonquin College (1997), he was chosen as their top alumni in 2003. Stu is a great fit to fill in for Regis, as he is no stranger to TV, hosting Rogers TV’s Ottawa Living, and guest co-hosting on Rogers TV’s Daytime Ottawa. Stu says, “I’ve been watching LIVE for 20 years and never thought in my wildest dreams that I would ever get this close!” Stu lives in Ottawa with his wife and enjoys relaxing at home with his 2 children.
With the exception of a brief, misspent youth at Sam The Record Man, every job Neil has ever had has involved a stage and/or a microphone.
For years he worked as a singer in Toronto, and toured with a band that opened for dozens of acts from the Temptations to Billy Ray Cyrus. As a stand-up comic, Neil toured North America sharing the stage with the likes of Brent Butt, Norm MacDonald and Richard Lewis. And radio has punched his bus ticket to scenic tourist hotspots like Oshawa… also Edmonton, Hamilton, Kitchener, Hartford, Washington, New York and Boston.
Neil couldn’t be more excited at the thought of sitting beside Kelly, after spending half his adult life in the US. He’s had six straight top-rated morning shows, and has guest co-hosted for Rogers TV’s Daytime Ottawa, so knows the fun, chaos, and thrill of live morning TV!
Born in Toronto, Kenny B started in radio at the young age of 16 at the legendary ENERGY 108 and has been noted as the youngest announcer on a major market station in Toronto history – crediting his mentor and best friend Wayne Williams for his start. After 10 years at ENERGY, he was offered a job at the #1 station in Calgary! We heard what he could do and brought him over to Ottawa to work his magic on Ottawa’s #1 HIT Music Station – The New HOT 89.9 FM! His comfortable, yet in-depth approach when communicating with the community has made him the most known and listened to On-air personality in Ottawa!
Kenny B is a master of all trades – he has done everything, including, stage managing major concerts, emceeing live events, and ACTING! Kenny Just finished filming a movie entitled “SNUFF” and will be off to Los Angles soon to film yet another film! You may have caught his good looks when watching music videos!(artists include 98 Degrees, Brian McKnight, Soul Decision, Massari…and others)! He is the voice of Capital Prophet Records and his voice can also be heard on national commercials throughout the world! Oh wait! The talent doesn’t stop there! He has also hosted concerts for major artists such as James Brown, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Destiny’s Child, BSB, N-Sync, LL Cool J, Nelly Furtado, K-CI and JoJo, and many more!
Kenny would love the opportunity to co-host with Kelly – who is clearly TV’s #1 “Hottie”!
…..and that’s today’s TLC. Good luck, Boys!!!
ps – who have YOU submitted a nomination for???
Derick should guest host on radio so we can nominate him!
Yes!!! He would get in for SURE!!! Ottawa’s Regis!!! I tried that tactic last year when they did this for “Women in Radio” and I had guest co-hosted with Neil….no such luck. Damn.
